Remember How to Spell German Shepherds Right

I was amused to learn that about one in any three folks spell the word German Shepherd incorrectly, spelling them German Shepards instead. I’m surprised that this word is so normally misspelled, and I am even further amazed to realized that I spelled it like this for so scores of years.

I loathe spelling words mistakenly and I consistently attempt to avoid it. I am consistently careful to make sure that I’m precise with my spelling, although like just about any individual, every so often I simply mess up. The great thing is that I’m going to give you an easy way to keep in mind how to spell this breed of dog the right way.

Follow my basic procedure here & you’ll consistently recall that it’s not German Shepards, but shepherds.

Remember back to why this breed of canine was bred & perhaps you’ll already figure it out. The German Shepherd was created as a labor canine, & it was just at the turn of the century that this breed came to existence.

Individuals in Germany desired a dog to help herd sheep. Remember the words herd & sheep this time, & then reverse them. You don’t think of the German Shepards (I’m kidding) presently as sheep herding canines, as they are routinely used by police to fight crime, in airports to sniff out substances, and in other places that depend on the dog’s great sense of smell.

This, though, is why they had been bred, & remembering this should make it a lot easier to write the word accurately.

As long as you attempt to keep this in mind any time you write or type out the word, I believe you’ll get it correct from here. Don’t feel too badly regarding it because one in 3 individuals do write it incorrectly.
